Raising Idea:
Rent-a-Puppy
This
and all the pages regarding fund-raising initiatives are composed in
part or
entirely by young volunteers who have actually done the given project
successfully.
The authors simply want to share their experience, and it is general
advice
only; Trailblazers takes no responsibility for private initiatives, nor
claims
any percentage from those who find these ideas helpful.
Fundraiser Name: Rent-a-Puppy
Description: You rent out puppies to people, $5.00
for 30 minutes. You call your local Humane Society & ask if you can borrow some
of their puppies and dogs for a fundraiser, then explain the fundraiser to
them. People might even want to adopt
the puppy/dog after playing with them for a while. This fundraier makes money
for your organization and might help give some puppies a home.
Expected Income: $100-$400 (Depending on how many puppies you rent out.)
People Needed: At least one person for each puppy is
best.
Materials Needed:
- Make up flyers advertising your Rent-a-Puppy event
with all the info and spread them around to make sure people know that you
will be having it.
- A good system will be needed to keep track of who rents a puppy,
reservation time, return time, which puppy, and we also took driver's
license as a guarantee that they return the puppy.
- Water Dishes for the dogs to drink water out of,
tennis balls to play fetch with, a leash
and collar for every puppy. (THE HUMANE SOCIETY MAY OR MAY NOY
SUPPLYTHESE.)
- The
local humane society or other source has the advantage of introducing
pets to potential owners, and they should have a representative or
provide materials to allow for those interested in bringing a puppy
into their homes
The time questions:
- This will take most of the day. Plan on at least 5-6
hours.
- Most effective if it lasts two days, as a Saturday and Sunday, so the word can get out
Location:
- A Public location in which to host the
Rent-a-Puppy.
- It is good to have a
public location where people might walk by, see all the puppies and
hopefully want to rent one
