The Gratest Saint of all times
There are many Saints, each one for a specific intention,
but there is a Saint for all occasions.
Volume 3 Issue 1 February 2008
There are many Saints, each one for a specific intention,
but there is a Saint for all necessities. This privileged Saint is the
particular Patron of families, helper in difficulties protector of purity,
protection in dangers, advocate for a Happy Death and the greatest advocate
before God after the Virgin Mary. This great Saint can take from the Divine
treasury, in full hands, treasures of graces and mercy for souls. Saints have
praised this Saint from all ages. This magnificent Saint is: Saint Joseph.
We all acknowledge St.
Joseph as the man in the nativity scenes, next to the
Blessed Virgin Mary and the Divine child. But he is not a one-season Saint; no,
in fact, he is the happy man whom, as St. Bernard of Clairvaux says: “it was
given not only to see and to hear that God who many kings longed to see, and
saw not, to hear, and heard not; but also to carry Him in thine arms, to
embrace him, to clothe Him and to guard and defend Him."So true are these words of the blessed Spouse of the Blessed
Virgin Mary, who always bore in his heart the total love of God.
Since it is Holy Week, I cannot think of anyone greater
(after the Blessed Virgin Mary) to meditate with on the Passion, Death and
Resurrection of our Lord.
You might ask why Saint
Joseph is so important during holy week. Holy Week is
the commemoration of our redemption. Who better, after the Blessed Virgin Mary,
to prepare us than St. Joseph,
he the Patron of those in agony, for eternal life; giving us consolation at our
last agony, and leading us into the arms of Mary and Jesus. Who greater to lead
us to Mary, than Saint Joseph; who is her spouse, who lived so many years with
her and died in her arms.
Still not convinced of the greatness of St. Joseph, here are some words of Saint
Alphonsus Ligouri:
“Since we all must die, we should cherish a special devotion to St. Joseph, that he may
obtain for us a happy death. All Christians regard him as the advocate of the
dying who had honored him during their life, and they do so for three reasons:
First, because Jesus Christ loved him not only as a friend, but as a father,
and on this account his mediation is far more efficacious than that of any
other Saint.
Second, because St. Joseph
has obtained special power against the evil spirits, who tempt us with
redoubled vigor at the hour of death.
Third, the assistance given St. Joseph
at his death by Jesus and Mary obtained for him the right to secure a holy and
peaceful death for his servants. Hence, if they invoke him at the hour of death
he will not only help them, but he will also obtain for them the assistance of
Jesus and Mary.”
In short, he is the greatest Patron Saint, efficacious when implored and
while lead us to perfect union to God; after, and I repeat again, the Blessed
Ever Virgin Mary whom is greater than this wondrous Saint. DON’T WASTE TIME! Go
to St. Joseph
who is the most glorious Saint of all times!
