Hey All!      

            I am Virginia, the new editor of Trailblazer’s new e-letter, The Compass. I am very excited to be a part of the Trailblazers Volunteers, an amazing group of youth from the Detroit area.

            In July, I went on my first pilgrimage with Trailblazers to visit Our Lady of Guadalupe. It was an amazing experience for me. Not only was I able to visit a different country and meet the people there, but I was also privileged to receive some wonderful graces while making the ten-day-long pilgrimage. I also learned the true meaning of offering up my sufferings as we hiked over twenty miles in three days! In spite of all that, I was amazed to find that I actually had a fun time. I encourage all those who have not yet been on a pilgrimage with Trailblazers to do so. I guarantee it will be a wonderful experience you will not soon forget.

It was on the last day of our trip that I told Fr. Paul Ward, the priest in charge of Trailblazers, that I wanted to work behind the scenes of Trailblazers as a volunteer. He asked me if I had any particular interests. I told him how much I enjoy writing. Right on the spot, He told me that I could take over Trailblazers e-letter, The Torch. It wasn’t until I met with him about a month later that I realized he wanted to do something entirely different, instead of picking up where The Torch left off. Thus began the creation of The Compass. Now, after several months of brainstorming and figuring out how to handle a computer (I’m still not very good at it) we are proud that you will be among the first to receive the first edition of Trailblazers new e-letter, The Compass.

I am still new at this and have yet to learn all the ropes. Thankfully, God is on our side and with Him, all things are possible. I hope and pray you will all enjoy this debut issue of The Compass. It is not as nice or snazzy as some of the e-letters that you or your parents might receive, but we hope that you will enjoy it and want to receive more like it.
